Hastings reception venue seeing much busier year
Brique 1887 is nearly full through the fall
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Brique 1887 in downtown Hastings has officially been open for just under one year. Unofficially, slightly shorter than that as its doors were closed and few receptions were taking place during the pandemic.
Tracy Bell, the owner of the venue, said May, June and August of this year are already booked solid. July and September are mostly booked and she even has some bookings in December and into 2022; a stark contrast from 2020 when it was a sporadic assortment of events with most weekends open.
“Everybody adapted pretty well but people are still getting married and that’s the majority of our business,” Bell said.
People are, in fact, still getting married and wanting to host events and for Bell and her business that’s exciting and encouraging. Brique also hosts parties, proms and graduations.
This wedding and event season will be the first “busy” season of Brique’s existence, which is something Bell hasn’t got to experience with her venue.
Bell has a few friends in the reception business and is seeing the trend among most of them: a slow 2020 has led to a booming 2021. She said it’s encouraging for everyone as it displays a desire to continue on with events after having so many cancelled or postponed the previous year.
