HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Local4 News and the American Red Cross partnered up for a fifth year with the Local4You Blood Drive on Tuesday.

The goal was to bring in 92 units of blood and, while it was very busy in each city, the total was just shy of that with 88. The Red Cross said this will be a big help for them after they had to cancel so many donations recently due to the weather.

“We’ve had to cancel thousands of donors appointments and then you put COVID on top it, it’s been an extremely rough time for the Red Cross right now,” Red Cross Account Manager Jeremy Aupperlee said. “Just right here in Nebraska, we had to cancel over 1200 units just from the snowstorms a couple of weeks ago. It’s having a major impact on Nebraska and around the country.”

If you missed Tuesday’s drive, you can still register to donate on the Red Cross website.
