LINCOLN, Neb. (KSNB) - The York girls basketball team had not won a State Tournament game since 2017. That changed this afternoon at Pinnacle Bank Arena as the Dukes took down fourth-seed Omaha Skutt, 31-28.

The Dukes defense shined against one of the best offenses in the state. They held the Skyhawks scoreless in the second quarter and went into the locker room with a 19-6 lead.

The second half saw Skutt make a run after going down 16-points but the lead proved to be too much.

York was led by junior Destiny Shepard who had 8 points but the story of the game was the Dukes’ defense.

The win sends them to semifinal Friday where they will play top-seed Norris. Tip-off set for 1:30 p.m. at PBA.
