LINCOLN, Neb. (KSNB) - Pleasanton’s reign over Class D-1 came to an end this morning at Pinnacle Bank Arena. The Lady Bulldogs lost a heart-breaker to Weeping Water, after UNO commit Grace Cave went the distant of the court to score the game winner with 5 seconds left. Cave finished with a game high 16-points.

The play happened moments after senior Kaci Pierce gave Pleasanton a one-point lead and her half-court shot at the buzzer fell short as they lost, 40-39.

The game ends an incredible four-year run for the six seniors (Katy Lindner, Kinsey Lindner, Kaci Pierce, Isabelle Paitz, Natalie Siegel and Hailey Mollring) on the team, who went 224-20 in volleyball and basketball, winning D1 state titles in both.

“This senior group has been special, no doubt about it,” Pleasanton girls basketball coach Jordan Arensdorf said. “They’ve won a lot of games, they’ve gotten a lot of hardware over the last four years. They were able to get it done last year at State Tournament, they won a state championship this fall, you know, it just wasn’t our morning.”

The Lady Bulldogs end their season with a record of 27-2.
