LINCOLN, Neb. (KSNB) - Class D1 top seeded Longhorns entered the half of Thursday’s Boys State Basketball Tournament semifinal trailed #4 Howells-Dodge by just one point. The Jaguars then started the second half on a 17-2 run, and Burwell never recovered, losing its first game of the season, 76-45.

“I’d go to war with these guys any day. I love these guys to death. This has been a really memorable season for me as a coach but more importantly as a program and the community,” Burwell Boys Basketball Coach Adam Stolzer said.

Burwell had three players finish in double digits, with Carter Mann leading the charge with 11. The Longhorns will plays North Platte St. Pat’s in the third place game tomorrow at 11:30 a.m.

“This game doesn’t define who we are or define our season. It definitely stings and hurts and makes you want to crawl into a hole, but you can’t do that in life,” Stolzer said. “You got to battle back and battle through adversity and that’s what we’re going to do tomorrow.”
