HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - After a shortened 2020 season due to COVID-19, the Lopers football team is gearing up for 2021.

In 2020, the Lopers only played 2 games, against Pittsburg State and Chadron State, and won both. In 2019, they went 7-5, including a Mineral Water Bowl win over Winona State.

With the NCAA granting all players an extra year of eligibility, due to COVID-19, Head Coach Josh Lynn is ready to take the momentum built from the last 2 years, into 2021.

“We’ve got to carry over from what we did in [2019] and then the 2 seasons here in the Fall, or the 2 games here in the Fall in [2020],” Lynn said. “I think we did that. Playing those 2 games in the Fall I think really helped carry over into the Spring here in [2021].”

The Lopers will get a chance to see where they stand, when they take the field for a joint-practice with the Wayne State Wildcats on April 17.
