HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - After a delay of a few days, a fiber optic project will start Tuesday morning and will restrict access to the Hastings street intersection at Seventh and Burlington.

A city spokesperson said the project was scheduled to start April 6 at 9:00 AM and should be finished on Thursday April 8. The intersection will be marked off with signs and traffic cones.

Windstream is replacing a fiber optic line at that location.

Drivers traveling south on Burlington Avenue will experience reduced lanes. Northbound drivers on Burlington Avenue will not be able to turn left onto 7th Street.

Westbound drivers on 7th Street will have a reduced lane and will not be able to turn left onto Burlington Avenue. Eastbound drivers on 7th Street will not be able to continue east through the intersection, and will be directed to turn right onto Burlington Avenue.

The intersection will be properly marked with signs and barricades in place.

Drivers should use caution in the area, or plan to use an alternate route if possible.
