GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - A new flag is flying this month at CHI-Health St. Francis hospital in Grand Island.

St. Francis officials Tuesday raised a flag to recognize National Donate Life month and the 82 people who donated organs and tissue in the last ten years in Grand Island.

The latest statistics from the state of Nebraska indicate over 400 people waiting for a donation across the state. In 2018, 300 organ transplants were performed from 68 donors. Another person is added to the organ waiting list every ten minutes.

You can register to be a donor through the non-profit Live on Nebraska registry.
