KHS receives award for most students in multiple activities
(KSNB) - Kearney High School received the Class A 2020-2021 Nebraska State Colleges Multi-Activity Student Award for having the highest number of students that participate in multiple activities and/or athletics. The award is given by the Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) and the Nebraska State College System (NSCS).
“This award is a testament to our philosophy at Kearney High School and the emphasis we place on student involvement in all activities. With KHS ranking as the 21st largest Class A school in the state but also ranks consistently in the Top 10 of the NSAA Cup standings, it is great that our students embrace the multi-sport/activity philosophy,” said Ryan Hogue, KHS Assistant Principal and Activities Director. “Thank you to our coaches, sponsors and patrons for all they do to support and encourage our students in their many sports and activities. This is why KHS competes year-in and year-out with the larger school districts in the state. GO BEARCATS!”
The award also recognizes the students in grades 9-12 who participate in at least three NSAA sanctioned activities during the academic year. Each of the state’s 15,358 high school students who meet the NSAA eligibility criteria will be recognized and awarded a certificate of achievement.
Kearney High School will be presented with a banner at the NSAA State Soccer Championships Tuesday, May 18 at halftime of the 8 p.m. Class A Boys State Soccer Championship final at Morrison Stadium in Omaha.
Earning the Multi-Activity Student Award in Class A is especially gratifying as it represents all of the hard work and commitment by so many of our student participants, coaches and sponsors, " said KHS Principal, Dr. Christopher Loofe. “I am thankful for the leadership Mr. Hogue provides our school activities and athletics programs. He is passionate about serving and does it with honor. Thank you and congratulations to our coaches and student participants for all you do for our school and community.”
