KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - For the second straight game, Kearney High baseball beat Grand Island. This is the second of three scheduled games between these two Class A rivals.

The Bearcats jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning. The Islanders got one back in the top of the second off an Eli Arends RBI single. That was as close as Grand Island would get as Riley Miller shut down the Islanders bats for most of the afternoon.

Kearney bats did their damage in the bottom of the second, scoring five runs. The big hit came from Easton Bruce, who’s 2-RBI single put the Bearcats out in front, 7-1. They would hold on for the 8-2 win.

Kearney improved to 8-9 while Grand Island falls to 4-5. These two teams scheduled to play again on Saturday, April 24 at Ryder Park.
