KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - Kearney Catholic High school is pleased to announce that Sydnee Tidwell has been hired as the Head Coach of the Stars’ softball program replacing Jon Ruyle who has resigned to spend more time with his family as Coach Ruyle and his wife Nikki are expecting a baby later this year. We would like to thank Coach Ruyle for stepping in and leading the Stars to a State runner-up last year under difficult circumstances.

Sydnee Tidwell is a Nebraska native, growing up in Southeast Nebraska and attending Tecumseh High School. Throughout High School she played for the Lincoln Swingers which later consolidated with Lincoln Blue Diamonds organization. After graduating she attended UNK and played softball for the Lopers for 4 years while getting a degree in Early Childhood Education.

Throughout college she coached her hometown 16 and under softball team where they attended numerous tournaments in the Midwest and class C state. Sydnee has been coaching for the Central Nebraska Softball organization since 2019 and is currently the head coach of the 10 and under team, while also facilitating the 8 and under program. Sydnee is married to Andy Tidwell and together they have 3 children, Perri, Haidyn and Mackson.

“We are excited to have Coach Tidwell on board and believe she has the ability, creativity and resources to develop our softball players on and off the field and should continue the positive culture created by Coach Ruyle and Coach Hiemstra” said KCHS Athletic Director Rick Petri.
