Arbor Day program happening in Hastings
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The City of Hastings Parks and Recreation Department will host an outdoor program in celebration of Arbor Day.
The program will take place at 3 p.m. Friday at Brickyard Park.
Guest speakers will include the Hastings City Council president, Hastings Parks and Recreation director, Adams Central FFA and the City Tree Board.
The first Arbor Day was celebrated in 1872, and it was officially proclaimed as a tree planting holiday in 1874. Arbor Day became a legal state holiday in Nebraska in 1885, and today it is celebrated in all 50 states, most commonly on the last Friday in April.
