Tree plantings in celebration of Arbor Day

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The Grand Island Tree Board will be hosting an Arbor Day celebration on Friday at Pioneer Park.

It will take place at 1 p.m. The park is located at 615 West 2nd Street.

The celebration will recognize seven winning trees and their owners from the Hall County Champion Tree Program.

The event at Pioneer Park will include the planting a tree donated by Betsey Hager with Daughters of American Revolution local chapter. The Grand Island Tree Board members will be on hand to demonstrate proper tree planting answer any arboriculture related questions.

Later at 2:30 p.m. the Tree Board will be planting a second tree donated by Barb Endorf at Lions Club Park located at 511 N. Sycamore Street.

Both tree planting events are open to the public.
