CENTRAL CITY, Neb. (KSNB) - The Central City/Fullerton/Centura baseball team wrapped up its best regular season in program history. The Kernels finished with a 17-5 record and host the B-6 District.

They are led by junior standout Kale Jensen who is batting .592 with 8 home runs. Seniors Tres Gonsior and Jackson McGinnis both bring depth to a lineup full of power.

This year marks the first year for Centura in the co-op and now the Kernels are ready to host their first district in the teams four-year history.

“We were able to merge the three schools right away and just take off running from the beginning,” Kernels baseball coach Brandon Detlefsen said. “It’s been exciting. You know all three towns love baseball. All three downs love to get behind their athletics. So, it’s just been exciting to join it all together and let it flourish.”

“I think everybody in the community has really come together with our baseball team,” Gonsior said. “They’re always out here supporting us and its just great by them.”

Kernels hosts Omaha Gross Catholic tomorrow, May 7th. First pitch set for 4 p.m.
