Strong first half sends Grand Island to Morrison Stadium

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Grand Island boys soccer is heading back to Morrison Stadium for the first time since 2018 after beating Columbus in the A-4 District final, 3-2.

The Islanders scored three-goals in the first half and hung on after the Discoverers scored two-goals in the second half. Danny Rendon was huge in net making a couple key saves to keep Columbus from tying it late.

In the first half, two goals from Diego Salas and one from Javier Baide was enough as the Islanders advanced to the Boys Soccer Championships in Omaha.

They play their first-round game Tuesday, May 11th. Match-ups are not set for the tournament.
