OMAHA, Neb. (KSNB) - The Grand Island boys soccer team entered the state soccer tournament on fire, but top seed Lincoln Southwest extinguished those flames in a hurry.

After battling to just a 1-0 lead at the half, Lincoln Southwest found the back of the net two more times in the second half to roll to the 3-0 shutout win.

There are no longer any central Nebraska teams left in the Class A boys tournament, but Kearney will carry the torch Wednesday during the Class A girls tournament, as they’ll look to knock off two-seed Gretna.

The Lexington boys and girls teams as well as Northwest will be representing the area in Omaha later in the week.
