HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Coming into the State Tournament, the Hastings Tigers were ranked as the number one seed, and faced off against eighth seeded Beatrice in the first round.

Trayton Newman pitched a solid game, only allowing three runs over 5 innings. Markus Miller came into the game in relief, and held the Orangemen scoreless.

However, the Tigers’ bats were cold, as they could only muster one run, in a 3-1 upset loss by Beatrice.

The Tigers now move into the Loser’s Bracket, where they will face Elkhorn in a win-or-go-home situation, on Monday at 10 am.
