PAPILLION, Neb. (KSNB) - At the beginning of the 2021 season, nobody on the Hastings Tigers baseball team expected to make it to the state tournament.

After going 20-5, and winning District B-1, the Tigers found themselves in Omaha as the #1 seed.

However, a loss to Beatrice in the opening round, and today’s 5-1 loss to Elkhorn, eliminates the Tigers from the State Baseball Tournament.

Elkhorn plated three runs in the fourth inning and two more in the fifth to earn the win. Hastings scored their lone run in the second inning. Hastings was held to three hits for the game. They were also plagued by six errors on defense, leading to their exit. Hastings went 0-and-2 in the state tournament, despite being the number 1 seed.

The Tigers season ends with a 20-7 record. Elkhorn will play another elimination game Tuesday.
