HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The mantra this season for the Lexington boys soccer team, has been “One game at a time.”

As they faced Mount Michael Benedictine in the state semifinal Monday night, they needed just one more win, to advance to their first ever state championship game.

Early on it was a battle, as the Minutemen had chances but were denied by the Knights’ keeper.

Finally, in the 54th minute, Lexington capitalizes on an error by the Knights and Fredy Vargas taps it in for a goal.

The boys from Lex would go on to win 1-0 and advance to the state championship game.

They’ll face off against Omaha Skutt Catholic on Wednesday. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 pm.
