Boys State Golf Championships - Day 1
Local golfers compete for state titles in boys golf
KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - The two-day Nebraska Boys State Golf Championships begun this morning across the state. Local golfers in Classes A through D vied to put themselves in a position heading into the final day tomorrow.
In Class C, local golfers Ethan Smith (Doniphan-Trumbull), Alex Schademann (Fillmore Central) and Rodney McDonald (Sandy Creek) find themselves in contention after the first day. Smith and Schademann shot 76 and are tied for third at five-over-par. McDonald is sixth at seven over-par. Rockney Peck of Wisner-Pilger leads Class C, shooting a one-over 72 heading into the final day at Kearney Country Club. Full results for Class C can be found here.
In Class D at Lake Maloney Golf Course in North Platte, Elm Creek’s Nathan Gillming shot a 76, four-over par. He trails Brendon Walker of Mullen who shot 70 and is two-under-par. He leads Teegan Sonneman of North Platte St. Patrick’s by four strokes. Full results for Class D can be found here.
In Class B, Payton Craw of McCook sits at five-over-par after day one. He trails clubhouse leader Luke Gustchewski (Mt. Michael Benedictine) by six strokes as Gutschewski sits at one-under par. York Dukes Emmanuel Jensen and Ryan Seevers cracked the top-10. Both sit at seven-over par heading into day two at Elks Country Club. Full results for Class B can be found here.
In Class A at Norfolk Country Club, Jacob Boor of Creighton Prep holds a two-stroke lead over three golfers from Lincoln Pius X. Boor shot a 68 and is four-under par. Grand Island’s Marcus Holling and Kearney’s Cole Feddersen are the top local golfers. Both are tied for 18th, shooting 77 and are five-under par. Full results for Class A can be found here.
