Grand Island future looking bright as city continues to grow
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The city of Grand Island is growing quickly, with many new businesses, the Fonner Park casino and the Central Nebraska Sports Complex coming in. City leaders say it is an exciting time for Grand Island.
The sports complex was announced on Monday and will go in next to Bosselman’s Truck Stop on 281. It’s expected to bring many people from all over central Nebraska to the area and also help other local businesses.
“When you look at the number of families that travel to other cities to play sports, you’ve got your lodging, generally you want to go out to eat,” Dave Taylor, President of Grand Island Area Economic Development Corporation, told Local4 News. “You get your fuel, you may want to go shopping.”
Taylor said this will be beneficial to not only Grand Island, but also many other surrounding cities as well.
“When we’re busy whether it’s with livestock shows or conventions, then you add in some sporting opportunities, the overflow is going to have to go outside of Grand Island,” Taylor said. “There will be a lot of head in beds outside of Grand Island.”
