GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Two Grand Island teens sent officers on a high speed chase Wednesday.

According to police the incident started around 2 p.m. near White Avenue and North Front Street.

An office attempted to stop a vehicle after it was caught speeding and running a stop sign in the residential area.

Police said while attempting to stop the vehicle, the driver sped away from officers in an excess of 70 mph. Police said that’s when they stopped their pursuit. However, officers caught up with one of the teens after the vehicle ran into a parked car nearby.

GIPD said they were able to apprehend a 14-year-old boy. But a 15-year-old boy was able to get away. The 14-year-old was arrested on multiple charges; the 15-year-old has been referred.
