First weekend in June has activities for all

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - We’re sure everyone had a great holiday weekend, but don’t for a minute think that means nothing is going on this weekend.

After all, if you ask Local4 meteorologist Travis Klanecky, he would say that summer-time has begun since we have crossed into June. So you know there are things to do, and you also know we’ve found some of them because we are Working for the Weekend.

Here are some of the events happening this weekend in central Nebraska:

HASTINGS:

What: Half Hastings half marathon and 5K run

When: Saturday, Half marathon: 7:30 a.m. 5K: 8:30 a.m.

Where: Half: Starts at H. Middle School. 5K: Starts Hastings College arena lot. Both end Lloyd Wilson Field.

Cost: $65 - registration ends Thursday midnight

What: Bicycle Fun Day

When: Sunday, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Where: Pioneer Spirit Trail

Cost: Free

GRAND ISLAND:

What: “Hear Grand Island” concert. Gallivant and Indigenous.

When: Gates open 6 p.m. Music starts at 7 p.m.

Where: Railside Plaza

Cost: Single - Free

What: Taste of Grand Island

When: Saturday, 5:00 to 7:30 p.m.

Where: Barn Bar, Dinsdale building, Fonner Park

Cost: Single - $30 advance. $35 at the door

KEARNEY:

What: Shrine Bowl activities. Masonic Band concert. Parade. Shrine Bowl game

When: Concert: Friday, 5:30 p.m. Parade: Saturday, 11 a.m. Football game Saturday 6:00 p.m.

Where: Concert - Harmon Park. Parade - Downtown. Game - UNK Stadium

Cost: Football tickets $14. All others free

What: Heritage Fireworks Show

When: Saturday, 10:00 p.m.

Where: Yanney Park

Cost: Free
