Zombies in the Heartland returns to Heartland Shooting Park
ALDA, Neb. (KSNB) - People didn’t have to play video games or watch zombie movies to get in on all the action at Heartland Shooting Park this weekend because they’re hosting their ninth annual Zombie in the Heartland Match, giving people the opportunity to simulate the experience in real life.
There are 10 zones where people can shoot zombies themed targets with rifles, hand guns and shot guns for sport and the fastest person with the highest score will get bragging rights and their choice of the prize.
“It’s set up so people can be competitive but also have fun,” Match Director Jeremy Lillard said. “There’s lots of people that’s watched zombie movies or T.V. shows that just want to get out and shoot zombies. They think it looks cool on T.V. and find out it’s cool in real life too.”
There are more than 200 contestants at the zombie match this weekend which was surprising for Millard since they had to cancel last summer due to COVID-19.
He said everything’s going well so far and they’re grateful to be back again this year.
