GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - A deer must have had some business to do Tuesday morning at the Hall County Courthouse.

Hall County Facilities Director Loren Humphrey said he got a call around 8:30 a.m. that a deer had broken through one of the windows at the courthouse.

He said it was a divided storm window that they had put in back in 2018. He said the deer jumped through one side, wreaked havoc in one of the rooms and then jumped out the other side of the window pane.

Humphrey said it happened in a room that isn’t used that much. There were some boxes strewn around. The deer didn’t break the historic frame or the storm window frame, just the glass. He said it will probably cost a couple hundred dollars to replace the glass.

Humphrey said when he used to work for the schools, there would be a deer that would come through the front door about once a year, but never through a window.

There was no sign of the deer as it got away, but a little bit of hair was left behind.
