GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Charges have been dismissed against a man accused of burglarizing Oro-Mex Jewelers in downtown Grand Island.
According to the Hall County Attorney, charges were dropped on Monday as there is not enough evidence to convict Estid Barrios, 29 of the crime.
On September 25, Grand Island police reported that one or more burglars made off with roughly $250,000 in jewelry and other items after cutting through a wall next to Oro-Mex Jewelers.
According to police, the burglars entered the church next door by cutting through a cement wall, then broke into two safes.
Barrios had been charged with one count of burglary and two counts of criminal mischief totaling $5,000 or more.
The attorney’s office said they may file charges again at a later date.
