GI Chamber of Commerce hosts annual meeting
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The Grand Island Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual meeting at Riverside Golf Club on Thursday.
They honored businesses who they believe have done an outstanding job over the past year. Amur Equipment Finance and Overhead Door Corp. won Businesses of the Year and Dr. Tom Werner and Dr. Ryan Crouch won the Outlier Award.
GI Chamber of Commerce President Cindy Johnson said for the past 15 months businesses have been in survival mode but are now looking to rebuild as life returns back to normal.
“We’re turning the page,” Johnson said. “We have, we are or we’re very soon will be turning the page and moving away from that year that was primarily about survival and responding to the COVID crisis.”
She believes the biggest obstacle right now is getting people in the door of businesses because people are still hesitant to get out and be in crowds.
“We became very insular in this last year and we had to be,” Johnson said. “Now it’s time to start again peeling that away and going back better then where we were before.”
