HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - You can add Revive Ministries of Hastings, including Horizon Recovery and Counseling Center, among those places seeing their pace pick up closer to normal.

Revive Director Dan Rutt said on Local4 News at Midday that they have fared well so far during the pandemic.

“We were very fortunate that we didn’t really close our doors to seeing our folks overcoming addiction,” said Rutt. “My counselors all decided they wanted to see their clients face-to-face. So, we went by all the State guidelines and the South Central District (Health Department) guidelines and didn’t really have any issues.”

Rutt said they are looking forward to the return of one long-standing annual event and the addition of a new one.

Their Recovery in the Park Celebration will be held Tuesday, July 27 at Chautauqua Park. The event includes free BBQ and ice cream as well as a number of family friendly activities. Special Scoops of Hastings will be serving up the ice cream.

The new event is the Stomp Out Addiction Mud Run. The 5K run / one-mile walk will be held July 31 at Camp Augustine, on the banks of the Platte River near Grand Island.

Details on the events, including entry information and deadlines, can be found on the Revive Ministries web site.

Rutt also reminds everyone that their Revive Sports Thrift Store is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at 920 South Burlington Avenue in Hastings. The thrift store accepts donations Wednesday through Saturday at the north end of the building from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
