Competitions begin in Nebraska High School Finals Rodeo
Local athletes compete in the First Go at the Nebraska High School Finals Rodeo
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Local athletes descended upon the Adams County Fairgrounds for the first day of competitions at the Nebraska High School Finals Rodeo. The First Go split into a morning and night session as athletes aim to qualify for the Short Go on Saturday.
In the night session, Madison Mills of Eddyville had the fastest time in Pole Bending with an unofficial time of 20.824 seconds. Burwell’s Jymmie Jensen placed eighth.
In steer wrestling, Lexington’s Dalton Kunkee entered in the top-10 and finished with one of the top times. His unofficial time was 4.54 seconds.
In breakaway roping, Jaya Nelson of Arcadia was the favorite and showed why with her unofficial time of 3.23 seconds. It is tight at the top in the event as Jace Hurlburt finishing with a time of 5.09 seconds.
Broken Bow’s Cody Miller is one of the favorites in the Boys All-around. In tie roping he finished with an unofficial time of 13.50 seconds.
The first performance of the 2nd Go starts tomorrow at 11 a.m. with the second performance beginning at 6 p.m.
