HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Afternoon showers will be winding down as sunset approaches. Skies will also be clearing up as the evening goes on. Tonight would be a good night for opening up the windows as temperatures fall back into the 50s and lower 60s by sunrise Sunday.

Sunday will start off with partly to mostly sunny skies and will be dry, but similar to Saturday, pop-up showers and isolated thunderstorms will be possible around the area. No severe storms are expected. Unlike Saturday, some of these showers may stick around through Sunday night. High temperatures on Sunday will range from the mid 70s northwest to the mid 80s southeast. Low temperatures Sunday night will drop back into the mid to upper 50s west and low to mid 60s east.

Expect the chance for showers and thunderstorms to continue into Monday and Monday night. At the present time, this looks like the best chance of rain in our forecast over the next week. High temperatures on Monday will be in the mid to upper 70s and lower 80s. Both Tuesday and Wednesday will have slight chances for rain and isolated thunderstorms, but they don’t look too promising. After that, it looks mainly dry for the end of the week and next weekend. Highs on Tuesday will be in the low to mid 80s. We’ll see temperatures return closer to average on Wednesday and Thursday with highs getting to the mid to upper 80s. Some cooler air will push in from the northeast on Friday. Highs will range from the upper 70s east to the mid/upper 80s west. Saturday may be just a degree or two warmer with highs mostly in the low to mid 80s.

A sneak peak at Independence day next Sunday hints at a warmer day in the mid to upper 80s (possibly some lower 90s). The chance for rain looks pretty low.
