HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - There are some areas of patchy fog this morning. Otherwise, much of the area will see a partly cloudy day. Any pop-up showers and thundershowers will be confined to areas near and west of Highway 83 (Valentine to McCook). High temperatures on Thursday will mostly be in the low to mid 80s, but there will be some upper 80s in Northern and Eastern Nebraska. It’ll be coolest out west. Rain chances out west will diminish this evening. The rest of the area will see mostly clear skies. Low temperatures will drop into the upper 50s and lower 60s.

Mainly dry weather is expected with quite a bit of sunshine Friday and Saturday. Saturday afternoon and evening, a few thunderstorms will be possible in western parts of the Local4 viewing area. The trend for warming temperatures continues. High temperatures on Friday will mostly be in the mid to upper 80s, but will be around 90° around the South Dakota border. On Saturday, highs will reach the mid to upper 80s and lower 90s.

Independence Day Sunday looks to be a bit warmer yet in the upper 80s and low to mid 90s. Much of the day should be quiet, but an isolated thunderstorms may be possible by the afternoon and into the evening. While the vast majority of the area will likely remain dry, there are a few that may have their plans changed a bit for the holiday and fireworks.

High temperatures on Monday will be in the low to mid 90s. There is again a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms while most likely remain dry. Slight chances continue into Monday night. Tuesday into Tuesday night may be our best chance for rain and thunderstorms while a slight chance will continue on Wednesday. It’ll be just a bit cooler on Tuesday with highs in the mid to upper 80s and lower 90s. Similar highs are possible on Wednesday. It does look like more heat will return at the end of next week.
