NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - 80-year-old Lavetta Langdon is heading to prison for 8-10 years. Langdon is charged with one county of felony manslaugher, after entering a no contest plea on June 1.

Langdon was given credit for 125 days served.

News 2 was in the Red Willow County District Courtroom Moday and has more details, plus an interview with Langdon’s family during the 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts. The family was allowed to hug and say goodbye Langdon before she was taken away.

The charges stem from an August 2020 incident where Langdon shot and killed her 79-year old husband, Larry Langdon, at the couple’s home. Langdon told law enforcement she was protecting herself after years of abuse.
