Two qualifications punched for 2021 U.S. Amateur Open in Hastings
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - It was a battle of some of the best golfers in the Midwest Monday at Lochland Country Club as 53 golfers converged on Hastings with two spots up for grabs in the 2021 U.S. Amateur Open.
Norfolk-native Luke Kluver wrapped up one of the spots with a winning 36-hole score of -11, but a tie for second at -7 led to a playoff hole before Jackson Thompson secured the final qualification. Thompson and Josh Wilson both struggled on the 17th in the playoff, but a clutch up-and-in from off the green for Thompson to save par ended up earning him the final qualification.
Aurora-native and current Husker Caleb Badura also impressed, finishing tied for 6th at -4.
