(KSNB) - Researchers in North Texas developed an app that can save lives of new moms, which is in response to the high number of women who die during, or after, childbirth.

The app is also meant to help with those suffering from postpartum depression.

Denise Hernandez, a new mother, welcomed her first child alongside feelings of anxiety and depression.

Dr. Teresa Wagner and a team of TCU nursing students focused on ways to help women such as Denise and developed the “What About Mom” app.

Researchers recently improved the app to make it more appealing to teen moms. The research showed young moms had the highest risk of dying during or after childbirth.
