GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The Hall County Fair kicked off in Grand Island on Wednesday.

Many people showed up to Fonner Park to help with the check in process and finish setting up for all of the events that start on Thursday.

The Expo Center will host the open class and many exhibitors for people to check out. There will also be the 4H animal shows.

The event is expected to bring hundreds of people to the area.

“There’ll be people around town using motels, buying some food, helping Grand Island,” Hall County Fair Manager Corby Flegle said. “It’s a good deal, it’ll help the city of Grand Island.”

The fair was minimal in 2021 and organizers said they are excited to be back to how it used to be.

“Last year was kind of a show-and-go with the 4H kids,” Flegle said. “Anything that came in for 4H, if the hogs came in, they showed then left and went home. This year is different. They’re going to bring them in, get them weighed in and stay like we have in years past.”

Shows will be going on starting Thursday. On Friday there will be a barbecue for a cause and a nationally televised boxing event.
