HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Temperatures have warmed up this afternoon thanks to breezy winds out of the south at 10 to 20 mph gusting at times to 25 mph. Highs in Central and Eastern Nebraska will peak out later this afternoon in the mid to upper 80s. Farther west will see low to mid 90s. Look for partly cloudy skies and hazy conditions thanks to the wild fires burning in the Pacific Northwest. Skies will clear up somewhat overnight as lows drop into the mid to upper 60s.

Thursday will again be breezy with south southwest winds of 10 to 20 mph. There will be more sunshine as temperatures warm up into the 90s for the entire area. The warmest upper 90s will be out west. Friday will be hotter yet under sunny skies as temperatures push into the mid to upper 90s. There may be some 100°+ locations in the west. Many will see heat index values over 100° in the afternoon.

A slight cooldown will come this weekend as a weak cool front moves in. Highs on Saturday will mostly be in the low to mid 90s. There is a slight chance of an isolated thunderstorm Saturday night, although most will likely remain dry. Sunday may be a bit cooler yet depending on clouds as highs top out between the mid 80s and mid 90s. There is a slightly better chance for isolated showers and thunderstorms later Sunday into Sunday night. Some may linger into early Monday. Temperatures start to warm up a bit on Monday into the low to mid 90s. On Tuesday, it’ll be a little hotter into the mid to upper 90s with some triple digits out west.
