HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Balmy overnight temperatures as winds back off a bit. Expect temperatures gradually dropping off from the upper 70′s around midnight to around 70 degrees by the 7 AM hour tomorrow morning. Increasing clouds as you go through your day on Saturday with the passage of a weak surface trough. Expect highs to top off in the low to mid 90′s tomorrow. Heat indices in the southeastern part of the state could reach between 100 and 105 degrees. This has prompted the NWS to issue a heat advisory between noon and 8PM tomorrow for those in southeast counties of Nebraska. Could see some spotty showers with the entrance of this weak trough. Winds will start off from the SW tomorrow but shifting from the northeast at 5-10 mph.

Our best chance of rain comes on Sunday afternoon where we have a 30% chance of storms after 1PM. A few storms could be strong. Not expected widespread rain coverage, but any rain is a welcomed cool down from these hot temperatures. Highs on Sunday around 90 degrees.

The extended forecast calls for temperatures to once again ramp up by Tuesday where we will see highs in the mid to upper 90′s. Can’t rule out triple digit readings by mid week. So it looks like the heat is on again for next week.
