KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - The Buffalo County Historical Society, in partnership with the Kearney Library, is working to create a commemorative, historical account of the area to celebrate the county’s 150th anniversary.

Community members, business owners, famlies large and small, people young and old are encouraged to submit a story, their family history, or any account of what their time has consisted of in Buffalo County.

The book will be published in 2023 and have photos, documents and written accounts of how Buffalo County has changed since its creation and serve as a tribute to those who came before us and what may happen after we’re gone. According to Broc Anderson with the Buffalo County Historical Society; having an idea of where you came from can give a more clear idea of where you may be headed.

Anderson wants people to limit any submissions to 500 to 1,5000 words and submit them electronically. If someone doesn’t have the ability to submit them electronically they will accepted handwritten materials and have it converted to an electronic form.

For more information regarding the project, how to submit, or what to submit you can contact the Kearney Library at (308) 233 - 3282 or call Anderson at (308) 234 - 3041.
