Rain chances later this afternoon and evening

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - As the afternoon unfolds, showers and isolated thunderstorms will move eastward out of the Panhandle and into western parts of the Local4 viewing area. The chance will be greatest in Central Nebraska during the evening. There is still a slight chance after midnight, but will be pushing through Eastern Nebraska during the late night hours. High temperatures later this afternoon will mostly be in the 80s to right around 90° in the southwest. This will actually be a bit of a cool down for those out west. Winds will be breezy out of the south at 10 to 20 mph. Overnight lows tonight will drop to between the upper 50s west and the upper 60s east.
Thursday will be a mostly sunny and warmer day as temperatures climb to the upper 80s and low to mid 90s with the hottest temperatures in the west. There is going to be a slight chance of isolated thunderstorms during the afternoon and early afternoon. They should diminish by around or just after sunset. Friday gets hotter as temperatures rise to the 90s, nearing 100° out west. It’ll be a mostly sunny and breezy day. It does look a bit cooler on Saturday with a few more clouds around. There is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms very early in the day. The chance may get a bit better in the afternoon and evening. Right now, the best chance for rain will be for areas east of Highway 281. Highs will mostly top out in the 80s, but a few might get to the lower 90s out west.
More heat comes in for early next week along with quite a bit of sunshine. Highs on Sunday will push into the low to mid 90s with a few upper 90s out west. Monday now looks like it may be the hottest day of the forecast with high temperatures into the mid to upper 90s and a few getting to around 100° or higher. A slight chance for showers and thunderstorms returns Monday night. Tuesday will be a little cooler in the upper 80s and lower 90s. Another chance for showers and thunderstorms comes Tuesday night.
