HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The weather certainly cooperated Wednesday afternoon for Central Community College faculty, students and staff who gave a helping hand to the Good Samaritan Village in Hastings.

Forty-five total volunteers did anything from pulling weeds to re-mulching some areas of the village, and for those at CCC, they said it was fun to see everything in action.

“We’re actually weed-eating, you can hear some of the weed-whacking back there,” said Dr. Jerry Wallace, the President of the Hastings CCC campus. “We’re picking up things, we’re moving things, we’re laying down mulch and making it an overall better environment for the residents here at Good Sam.”

Dr. Wallace said CCC first heard about the need for a project like this after he found out that Good Samaritan Village was struggling to find groundskeepers to help maintain the village, making the decision to organize Wednesday’s event a no-brainer.
