One killed in crash in Grand Island
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The Grand Island Police Department is investigating a fatal accident over the Labor Day weekend.
The accident happened around midnight on September 6 at the intersection of Highway 281 and Faidley Avenue.
GIPD said Leroy Voight, 60, was traveling westbound on Faidley, crossing Highway 281 and ran a red light. He was on a motorized bicycle when he hit a U-Haul traveling southbound on 281. Voight died on impact. He was not wearing a helmet.
The intersection was closed for several hours, while crews cleaned up the crash site. The intersection opened back up around 4:00 a.m.
An autopsy has been ordered and the investigation is ongoing.
