GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Students over at Grand Island Senior High (GISH) got to explore their options during the college fair on Thursday.

There were more than 20 colleges from Nebraska and surrounding states and students got to pick their brains about what they had to offer.

The University of Nebraska at Kearney happened to be one of the colleges looking to recruit high-school students. Admissions Counselor Valeria Lozano said this is a great way to inform students about the college and answer any questions that they have.

“The biggest thing is just for us to get out here and meet students and let them know that we’re here and we want to help them with the college application part or answer any questions that they have,” Lozano said.

Senior Haley Wiemers had her eye on a couple colleges in Nebraska but there was one who happened to interest her the most.

“I’m currently applying at a bunch of different colleges but UNL (University of Nebraska-Lincoln) business program looks very good for me so I’m planning on going there,” Weimers said.

Weimers is the marketing/communications intern at GISH and hopes to major in business for the same thing.
