Drive-thru COVID-19 testing coming to GI
OREM, UT & GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - If you’re in need of getting tested for COVID-19, a new drive-thru testing site will be available in Grand Island later this week.
Nomi Health, the direct healthcare company coordinating COVID-19 testing and vaccination efforts across the country, announced the upcoming site to accommodate the demand for testing across central Nebraska.
”Since the end of the COVID-19 Emergency Declaration, we have not offered testing at the Health Department,” said Teresa Anderson, health director of the Central District Health Department. “We saw a need and welcome Nomi. Our hope is this drive-through clinic becomes a resource for the Tri-Cities as we continue to battle COVID-19.”
The site will ensure that residents in the area have access to critical COVID-19 testing as the Delta variant spreads across Nebraska.
It will offer both rapid antigen testing with a 1-hour turn-around time, and PCR testing with a 24-48-hour turnaround time. Samples are processed in a CLIA-certified laboratory using FDA-authorized kits.People in need of a test are asked to bring an insurance card if they have one. If they do not have insurance, they will not be turned away.
The site, located at 1137 South Locust in Grand Island, opens Wednesday, Sept. 29. Hours will be Wednesday- Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Mondays and Tuesdays, the Central District Health Department will offer vaccination services.
People with questions about the vaccination service may call 308-385-5175 or visit cdhd.ne.gov
