Kearney Catholic football leads Top 5 Plays

KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - As another week of the 2021 fall sports season comes to a close, we bring you our Top 5 Plays from around the Tri-Cities.

This week, Kearney Catholic football takes top honors.

  1. Kearney Catholic hosted Minden under the Friday Night Lights this week and put on an offensive showcase. Quarterback Brett Mahony was dropping dimes all night, leading to two plays at No. 1. Mahony first hit Garret Schmaderer deep for a score before finding Mason Mandernach through tight coverage.
  2. Grand Island Northwest volleyball competed in a triangular against Kearney Catholic earlier in the week. Whitney Loman saved a point with an impressive dig leading to a kill from Ashlynn Brown.
  3. In softball, Kearney competed against Grand Island. The Bearcats try and bunt, but Braelyn Sindelar snagged it out of the air and fired a pass to first to turn the double play.
  4. Adams Central took on Wood River-Shelton on Friday night. Patriots do-it-all man Nick Conant snagged an interception on defense and was a force to be reckoned with on offense, scoring an impressive touchdown.
  5. Hastings St. Cecilia volleyball hosted Doniphan-Trumbull earlier in the week. Hawkette Addie Kirkegaard was wheeling and dealing all match long. From strong kills to fine finesse, St. Cecilia won 3-0.
