Five Star Performer - Erin Sheehy
Hastings St. Cecilia’s libero recorded her 1,000th dig recently
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - A few weekends ago, Erin Sheehy recorded her 1,000th dig for the Hastings St. Cecilia Bluehawks.
“It’s come with a lot of hard work from her in practice,” said her coach Kelan Schumacher. “She’s always looking to get better, asking us questions about how she can read a defense better or read a hitter better and so she’s worked hard for it.”
Sheehy has impressed not only her coach, but her teammates and fans as well, as she works hard to be the best on the floor.
“I come to practice every day, and push myself to be the best player I can be, and it’s definitely paid off this season,” Sheehy explained.
“She brings a lot of leadership to games, a lot of energy, she doesn’t take any drill off, she’s going after it 100% all the time,” said Schumacher.
It’s that work ethic that’s allowed Sheehy to fly around the court, creating opportunities for the Bluehawks every match.
“It feels great to be out there just having a lot of energy and just being a pest out there,” said Sheehy.
Sheehy helped lead the Bluehawks to the State Championship game her sophomore year, but she says what’s stood out to her at St. Cecilia’s, has been taking the court with her teammates.
“I’ll definitely miss the great group of girls that we have. We all get along, and we all push each other to be the best we can be,” said Sheehy.
