HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Our 5th Quarter Game of the Week had the makings of a good one with rival Kearney Catholic coming to Hastings to take on Adams Central, but the Stars used the stage to make a statement win Friday night.

Already up 14-0 in the first quarter, KCHS’ Riley Grieser took the handoff from about 15-yards out and wasn’t touched on his way to the third Stars TD of the game. That made it 21-0.

Adams Central tried to find a spark on the ensuing possession. Jacob Eckhardt ripped off a long run well into KCHS territory, but on the very next play, AC coughed up the football. Nick Conant was fighting for extra yards, and a KCHS defender was able to strip the ball loose. The game was all but gift wrapped after that.

KCHS QB Brett Mahony connected with Carson Murphy for a long run after the catch to get the ball inside the AC 10-yard-line. A few plays later, it was Grieser again finding the end zone to put the cherry on top of a dominating 41-12 win over the Patriots.
