HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Skies will remain clear and winds will calm down overnight. This will lead to the coldest temperatures of the fall season so far. Low temperatures will range from the mid 20s well out west to around 40° out east. For those that drop into the low to mid 30s (generally west of Highway 81), patchy frost will be possible tomorrow morning. A frost advisory is in place for counties generally between 183 and 81. There is a freeze warning for those of you from Custer county west and north (west of highway 183).

On Thursday, skies will start mostly sunny, but expect increasing clouds through the day. Winds won’t be as strong, but temperatures will remain cool. Highs will range from the mid 50s northwest to the mid 60s southeast. Some rain will pass through southern and eastern areas later Thursday afternoon into Thursday evening, but precipitation totals will be fairly low. Look for decreasing clouds on Friday and breezy northwest winds of 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. It’ll again be on the cool side with highs in the mid to upper 50s and lower 60s. With clearing skies, Friday night into Saturday morning may be the coldest morning of the week. We’ll see Saturday morning lows mostly in the low to mid 30s. This will be the best chance for more widespread frost, but nobody should see a hard freeze.

The weekend will turn out to be very nice. There will be plenty of sunshine throughout the weekend. Highs on Saturday will mostly be in the mid 60s. Low temperatures Saturday night will again be chilly in the mid to upper 30s and lower 40s. It’ll be warmer on Sunday with highs into the low to mid 70s.
