Hastings softball routs Elkhorn 11-2
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - It’s been one of the most anticipated state touranments of the Fall, and the city of Hastings plays host to it once again. It came with quite the hometown feel with both Hastings High and St. Cecilia in the field, and the Tigers did their part in their opening round game, wiping out Elkhorn 11-2.
Tiger fans are used to dominance on the mound from Faith Molina, but she provided the offensive spark in this one as well. She laced a line drive to center, nearly clearing the fence in the bottom of the first inning.
Hastings then plated its first run when Sydni Johnson took home on a ground out to third. A few batters later, Delaney Mullen crushed a pitch into the right-center gap, scoring Sam Schmidt. Mullen would also come in to score on an RBI single to make it 3-1 after one.
The Tigers didn’t look back in the 11-2 win.
