One dead after vehicle drives into Cottonmill Lake

KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - The Kearney Police Department is investigating a drowning death that happened shortly before 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cottonmill Park. Officers responded to a report of a vehicle that had gone into the lake and became submerged with two occupants inside.

KPD says the driver, 90-year-old Donald Corneer, died in the incident. His wife was able to exit the car and be rescued by a bystander.
