HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Tradehome Shoes in Conestoga Mall is giving back this holiday season with socks. They’re calling it ‘Trade at home, Give at home,’ and every time you buy a pack of socks, they give it back to a local charity.

The owner chose to donate to the Crisis Center, Hope Harbor and the Salvation Army this year. They’ve been doing it for the last six months in honor of the company being in business for 100 years.

“I will say without a doubt in my mind, it’s the coolest thing I’ve ever been apart of, giving back to the local communities,” General Manager Brian Danner said. “We have a 120 stores in the Midwest and all our communities, we’re giving back locally.”

While some businesses have been struggling during the pandemic, Tradehome Shoes has seen the opposite, giving them the opportunity to help others.

“The biggest thing is just to give back. We care about the people in the community and I think it shows in our sales,” Danner said.

So far, the store has sold about 1,800 packs of socks and Danner plans to give 800 of them away to the crisis center on Wednesday.

“People in Nebraska, Grand Island are very charitable, very giving,” Danner said. “I love this community because they always give back.”

This nationwide campaign will continue on year-round. The store is even starting another initiative where they will be donating shoes to local schools.
